Lakeland - Carla M. McDermott, age 67, passed away December 4, 2023, at Lakeland Hospice House. She was born on September 23, 1956, in Tampa, FL. She was an OR Nurse for BayCare. She was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, bird watching, and fishing. She is survived by her wife Brenda Hays of Lakeland, brothers Roger Thomas (Grace) of Patterson, GA & Leon Thomas (Jenny) of Lakeland, sister-in-law Lanette Muehler of Lakeland, son Cory McDermott (Victoria Van Ness) of Lakeland, grandchildren Courtney McDermott of Lakeland, Alyssa McDermott of Haines City, Lily Kotas (Skyler) of Jacksonville, NC & Desiree Van Ness (John Brooks) of Eagle Lake. And great grandchildren Raven Brooks and Link Kotas. Family will receive friends Friday, December 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.
