Carl Gene Meier

Carl Gene Meier, age 89, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022. Born January 5, 1933, in Guin, Alabama, he was the son of the late Carl Gustav Meier and Ethel (Martin) Meier. Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran serving the Korea War. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Bartow for over 60 years, serving as a Deacon and an Elder. Gene worked his entire career in the Phosphate industry, retiring in 1996 as Product Quality and Environmental Control Director for Farmland Industries. He also was a member of the Bartow Rotary Club for 52 years. He served as Club President and was named as a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr Meier is survived by a loving family that includes his wife Nina (Bolling) Meier, his children: Susan Meier Orr (William) of Bartow, Brian Meier (Lea) of Homerville, GA and Steven Meier (Susan) of Bartow. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Andrew, Evan, Steven, Mary (Kobie) Bryan and great grandson, Kole Bryan. A private family graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 16th at Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
