C. R. "Bob" Fry

Mr. C. R. "Bob" Fry, age 89, passed away from respiratory failure Thurs. May 15, 2008. Born October 18, 1918 in Cincinnati, Iowa, Bob was the son of the late Charles Roscoe and Donnah Rosetta Fry. Bob had been a resident of Bartow since 1965, when he came here from Missouri. Bob was the owener and operator of Pickens Caladium Bulb Farm. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bartow, along with the Bartow Kiwanis Club where he had formerly served as president and Lt. Governor. Bob also a member of the American Legion Post #3 in Bartow and the Retired Officers Association in Lakeland. A Naval Veteran of WWII and survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Mr. Fry served on active duty and reserves in the Navy for 45 years before retiring with the rank of Commander. Mr Fry is survived by a loving family that includes his wife, Ruby L. Fry, daughter Kimberly Auclair (Denis) of Lakeland, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Tuesday May 20, 2008 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church 355 South Florida Ave. in Bartow. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the First Presbyterian Church of Bartow.
