Brenda Gail Hays

Brenda Gail Hays, age 71, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was born July 24, 1954 in Lakeland, FL to Wilburn & Alafaye Borders. Brenda was a Social Worker for Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her wife Carla McDermott. Brenda is survived by her sister Lanette Muehler (Bob)of Lakeland, son Cory McDermott of Lakeland, three grandchildren Courtney McDermott (Aramis) of Lakeland, Alyssa McDermott of Haines City and Lily Kotas (Skyler) of North Carolina, two brothers Buster Borders (Becky) of Tampa and Al Borders (Mary) of Hudson. Family will receive friends Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am Saturday at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
