Blanche Virginia Young

Mrs. Blanche Virginia Lowery Young, age 78, of Bartow, FL, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at her Residence in Bartow. She was born July 11, 1929 in Mulberry, FL. Mrs. Young owned Young's Nursery in Homeland for 20 years and worked for the Polk County School Board as a Bus route coordinator and retired in 1991. She was a member of Homeland Baptist and later a member of First Baptist Church in Bartow. Mrs. Young was an avid reader who was self educated in horticulture. She loved to share her citrus and avocados, as well as her wonderful southern cooking to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Roscoe E. Young and her son William "Bill" Young. She is survived by her Five Daughters; Linda & Tom Chancey of Bartow, Mary & Howard Summers of Lakeland, Glenda Caldwell Young of Homeland, Cathy Whistin of Lakeland, and Cindy & Ricky Ward of Starke, FL. One Sister; Velma Paradise of Augusta, GA One Brother; Ross Lowery of Bartow, FL Ten Grandchildren; Tara Campbell Yancey, Jimmy Young, Nicki Summers Carroll, Amber Campbell Church, Karen Summers McLean, Ross Young, Jessica Whistin, Justin Ward, Shannon Whistin, and Jamie Ward. Nine Great Grandchildren; Logan, Dalton, Zoe, Adelyn, Simon, Sadie, Josie, Henry and Luke. Numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street, Bartow, FL, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Funeral service will be at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2008 , Rev. James B. Hatch officiating. Interment will be at Homeland Cemetery in Homeland, FL.
