Betty Joyce Vickers (Thompson) October 14th, 1962 – June 20th 2025 Retired Bus Driver Surrounded by her loved ones and friends, Betty was called home to be with her lord and savior on June 20th 2025. Born in Fernandina Beach, Florida to Truman and Lilly Mae Thompson on October 14th 1962. Betty was a devoted mother to three children: Jimmy Vickers III (Kandi), Natalie Rodriguez (Maximo), and Anthony Rowland (Ginger). A devoted wife to the love of her life and continuous companion of 48 years, Jimmy Vickers Jr. Her grandchildren, David “D.J.”, Raven, Isis, Gage, John, and her most special baby Jimmy IV “L. J.” were her whole world whom she treasured beyond all measure. Betty was a believer in Christ and was a member of Turning Point Baptist Church in Bartow, Fl. She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Lillie Mae Thompson, brothers, John Sr., Truman Jr., Rodney Sr., and sister Shirley. She is survived by her loving husband Jimmy Vickers Jr, siblings Ruth Spinks of Lakeland, Derwood Thompson of Gainesville and her big sister and sidekick Kathy Berry (John) of Homeland. Betty was an avid reader who loved gardening, her family, and spending time with the love of her life. Most of all, Betty was a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren. They were the sunshine in her life and she theirs. Betty was a shining light and touched the lives of all who were blessed enough to have known her, because to know her was to love her. Her smile, contagious laugh, and love will be missed by all. Family will receive friends Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.
