Betty H. Murphy

Mrs. Betty H. Murphy, age 79, passed away from respiratory failure, Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at home in Alturas. Born October 24, 1928 in Bartow, she was the daughter of the late Leslie W. and Alta Hurst. Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker and lifelong area resident. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Alturas. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of 56 years, Wilton E. Murphy, Sr. a daughter, Bonnie Ford (Billy) of Miami, two sons; Wilton "Gene" Murphy, Jr. of Bartow, and Jimmy Murphy (Helen) of Columbia, SC. She also leaves behind her brother, Leslie Hurst, Jr., four grandchildren; Jenna Ford, Justin Ford, Christi Murphy, Melissa Murphy, and great grandson, David Murphy. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow, where services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow. Memorial Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice 105 Arneson Ave. Auburndale, FL 33823.
