Betty Martin

Homeland- Mrs. Betty Silcox Martin, 72, of Homeland, died Wed, Mar 14, 2007, at Bartow Regional Medical Center from complications of diabetes. A native of Bunker Hill, FL, Mrs. Martin was a resident of Homeland for over 55 yrs, moving from Sebring. She was co-owner with her husband of Martin's Grocery of Homeland for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Homeland. Mrs. Martin was well known for her birthday and wedding cakes she baked for friends and family in the area. She was preceeded in death by her son, Rick Martin. She is survived by her Husband of 53 yrs: William R. "Bill" Martin of Homeland; Brother: Robert Silcox of Athens, GA; Granddaughter: Jessica Martin of McLeansville, N.C; Grandson: Ryan Smith of Orlando. Family will receive friends Sunday, Mar 18, 4-6 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Monday, Mar 19, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Homeland Cemetery in Homeland, Fla.
