The family and friends of Elizabeth Jeannette "Betty" Logan of Tallahassee, FL, mourn her passing. She died on June 9, 2014, just a few weeks before her 92nd birthday of natural causes. Born on July 1, 1922, in Bartow, Mrs. Logan lived in Florida all of her life, much of it in Bartow, Lakeland, and Eagle Lake. She also lived in Brandon and Wimauma. Her parents were Elizabeth Regina Lyles Logan and Sheriff John Logan of Polk County, turn-of-the century settlers in Florida from Alabama. She is celebrated in loving memory by her son, Daniel Spessard Holland (Kathy Shimeta) of New York City and her daughter, Gail Elizabeth Holland (David) Ingram, of Penn Yan, New York; three grandchildren, Jason Timothy Ingram (Becky), Rachel Elizabeth (Toby), and Luke Charles (Sarah) Ingram; seven great grandchildren: Ellie, Thomas, Henry, Linus, Jack, Ralphie, and Seth. She loved, cherished, and took pride in all of them. Her beloved niece, Nancy Streater Peterson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Logan and Holland families, and Betty's many caregivers at Harbor Chase residence in Tallahassee, mourn the loss. Betty attended public school in Lakeland and was a graduate of the Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee. She was a dedicated public school teacher of young children in Lakeland (Dixieland), Seffner, Ruskin, and Apollo Beach, Fl. Elizabeth Logan was an ardent fan of the Florida State Seminole football team. She was an accomplished artist. The water color paintings. she completed during her final years are treasured by her family. Memorials may be made in memory of Betty to the Polk County Historical Museum, 100 East Main St., Bartow, FL. There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, in Bartow.
