Betty Joyce Skipper Brown went home March 10, 2012, after a short battle with lung cancer. Some called her Betty, and some called her Joyce, but she was known to all as a strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and much more. Betty was born October 15, 1948 in Altha, FL and was a longtime resident of the Lakeland area. Betty graduated from Summerlin Institute and most recently worked as a Customer Service Representative with Lakeland Electric for 23 years. She attended First Baptist Church of Bradley.
Betty Joyce was blessed with a devoted family and is survived by her loving husband Ronald Kenneth Brown, and 3 devoted daughters, Dee Ann Vann (husband Michael) of Lakeland, Deborah Minium (husband Leon) of Mount Pleasant Mills, PA, and Christi Matias (husband Kevin) of Bradley, FL. Betty Joyce cherished her grandchildren Kristin Vann, Lakeland, FL; Nicole Minium, Philadelphia, PA; Sean Matias and Trey Matias, both of Bradley, FL. Betty Joyce was proud to call Blair Hebner, Lakeland, FL, her beloved niece. She was preceded in death by her sister Pamela Hebner and father Columbus Odale Skipper.
Family will receive visitors at 10 a.m. and memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Bradley, 610 E. Pine Street, Bradley, FL.
