Bettie Jo Poppell

Bettie Jo Poppell, age 69, of Alturas, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at her residence of cancer. Born January 12, 1940 in Zolfo Springs, FL, Mrs. Poppell has been a resident of Alturas for 19 years, moving from Bartow. She was a Registered Nurse for Polk General Hospital in Bartow for 20 years. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Alturas. She is preceded in death by her son: Daniel Lee Poppell and grandson: Michael Lee Poppell. She survived by her husband of 51 years: Lee Poppell of Alturas; son David Poppell of Indian Harbor Beach, FL; brother: Herbert Gray of Homeland; sister: Marilyn Johnson of Indiana; 5 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Tuesday, September 15, 6-8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will follow Wednesday 10 am at the funeral Home.
