W. Berry Mitchell, Jr, age 61, passed away Thursday, February 02, 2012 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale of Cancer. Born November 11, 1950 in Lakeland, Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Polk County. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a Citrus Grower. He attended the Babson Park Community Church. He is preceded in death by his parents: W.B. "Preacher" & Betty Sue Mitchell and step-mother: Johnnie Mitchell and a brother Christopher Scott Mitchell. He is survived by a daughter: Cherie Miller of Lakeland; three sons: Timothy Mitchell of Lakeland; Shawn Mitchell of Spanish Fort, AL & Kenneth Chad Mitchell of Orlando; two brothers: Jerry Mitchell of Lakeland & Roy Dan Mitchell of Alturas; sister: Beverly Mitchell of Lakeland & two grandchildren; Family will receive friends Monday, February 6, 2012 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery with military honors.
