Bernice Downing

Mrs. Bernice A. Downing, age 76, of Bartow, Fla., died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Winter Haven Health & Rehab. in Winter Haven, Fla. Born in Bartow on January 16, 1931, Mrs. Downing has been a lifelong resident of the Bartow & Lake Wales area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lake Wales Church of God. She is preceded in death by her husband John L. Downing. She is survived by her two sons: James A. Downing of Bartow & Johnny L. Downing, Jr. of Lake Wales; one daughter: Julie Schonyers of Lake Wales; 12 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren; Family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan 9, 9-10 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow with services following at the funeral home at 10 AM. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
