Ben W. Johnson

Ben W. Johnson, age 94, passed away from natural causes on Friday, March 16, 2012. Born on August 12, 1917 in Vinings, GA, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Louise (Kirkpatrick) Johnson. Ben retired after many years of service in the phosphate industry as an engineer. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. Mr. Johnson was an Elder Emeritus at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow, where he and his wife Shirley were longtime members. He was also a former member of the Bartow Rotary Club and named a Paul Harris Fellow in 1979. Mr. Johnson is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 55 years, Shirley Johnson, his son Mark A. Johnson of Lakeland, his daughter Jennifer J. Wolff and husband Rod of Columbia, SC, two grandchildren: Jamie Wolff and Andrew Johnson . Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow where the family will receive friends Monday, March 19th from 6PM to 8PM. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, March 20th at 11:00AM at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow, 205 East Stanford Street in Bartow. Interment will take place in Baltimore, MD.
