Barton E. Wheeler

Barton E. Wheeler, age 95, resident of Bartow FL., passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 in Good Shepherd Hospice of Auburndale, FL. Born July 11, 1920 in Monroe County, KY, he was the son of the late Wertie and Allie (Rowland) Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army Air Corps., stationed in England. Barton was the owner and operator of MetPro Sales and Service in Lakeland, FL. He was a longtime member, and Deacon, of the First Baptist Church of Bartow. He was a member of the American Legion in Bartow. Barton was also a 33rd Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masons. Mr. Wheeler is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth D. "Libby" Wheeler of Bartow,FL., two sons: Don Wheeler (Janet) of Baton Rouge, LA. and B. Evan Wheeler (Ellen) of Winter Haven FL., two grandchildren: Anna Wheeler (John Bolton) of Washington D.C.and Andrew Wheeler (Jennifer) of Baton Rouge LA., and two great grandchildren, Lauren & Adam Wheeler of Baton Rouge, LA. A celebration of Barton's life will include a Memorial Visitation on Friday February 19th , 2016 at 10 a.m, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
