Barbara Osthoff

Barbara L. Osthoff, age 81, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022, in Lakeland. Born February 2, 1941, in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Truehart and Ilene Hinds. Barbara was the Assistant Supervisor of Elections for Polk County where she received many awards including: the Larry Hardaway Civil Liberties League Award, the Supervisor of Elections Registration Administration Award and special recognition for 40 years of loyal service presented by the Polk County Board of Commissioners. She was a member of the McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church of Bartow. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin M. Osthoff. She is survived by a loving family that includes her children: Bruce Osthoff (Melissa) of Babson Park and Gwen Jones of Lakeland. She also leaves behind her sister: Pauline Whitaker of Bartow, her grandchildren: Tommy Jones, Troy Jones, Samantha Jones, her great grandchildren: Ryan, Skylar, Brayden and Joshua. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, September 1st at 11:00 am McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church of Bartow, 695 West Stuart Street in Bartow. In lieu of flowers, the family ask to donate on behalf of Barbara to the McLeod Presbyterian Church in Bartow, Florida.
