Barbara Hunter Orr

Barbara Hunter Orr, age 97, peacefully went to be with her Lord & Savior on October 17, 2026 in Bartow, Florida. She was born in Bartow on November 29, 1928 (Thanksgiving Day) as a third generation Bartowan to W.F. (Ching) and Rosa Caldwell Hunter. In 1952 she married W. Wallace Orr, her loving husband of 64 years.

Barbara was a lifelong active member (97 years) of the Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church in Bartow. After graduating from Summerlin Institute (Bartow) and Erskine College (Due West, S.C.), Barbara was the Home Economics Supervisor for the Polk County School Board. Other affiliations were with Delta Kappa Gamma, Bartow Junior Service League, Bartow Quilters and as a board member of Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock, N.C.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her beloved son William (Bill) W. Orr, Jr. (Susan) of Bartow, sister Lynda Hunter Black of Bartow, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

The family would like to thank the many medical doctors and home caregivers for their long years of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bartow ARP Church organ fund (ARP Church, 205 E. Stanford St., Bartow, FL 33830) or Bonclarken Conference Center (Bonclarken, 500 Pine Dr., Flat Rock, NC 28731). A private family graveside service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, Florida at a later date.
