Barbara Sims Hoover, 75, of Lake Alfred, FL, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Barbara was born March 22, 1935 in Lawrence County, AL. She moved to this area in 1952 from Decatur, AL. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Alfred. She was a homemaker and a Piano Teacher. She was preceded in death by her son; Jesse Simmons, Jr. She is survived by her husband; Walter Hoover, Jr. of Lake Alfred. Daughter; Myra & husband Chuck Saylor of Raleigh, NC. Son; Phillip Simmons of Auburndale. Three Sister; Linda Haag, Joann Patterson & Judy Blackwell. Five Brothers; John Sims, Jr., Doyle Sims, Randy Sims, Kenneth Sims & Glenn Sims. Three Grandchildren; Nicole B. O'Grady, Jessica Simmons & Justin Simmons. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street, Bartow, FL. The Family will receive friends Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 10 to 11 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL.
