Arthur F. Russell

Dearborn, Mi - It is with great sadness that we announce Arthur Frederick. Russell, age 100, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. Born April 29, 1921 in Houston, TX, Mr. Russell was a resident of Dearborn for 72 years, moving from Plymouth. He was a Marine veteran, serving with honor in World War II, in the USMC Company B Light Tank Division, where he fought in the battles of Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian. He later served in the Navy during the Korean War, where he was a 3rd Class Gunners Mate, stationed on Guam in the Naval Munitions. In his career, Mr. Russell was a Wayne County Road Commisson Forestry Supervisor for Wayne County. Michigan. Arthur Russell was a collector: of his country and its history; of people and their stories. He was a lifelong learner, taking special interest in genealogy and American history. Even as the years passed, Arthur Russell could recall the personal story and life of any relative, extended or close. His whit and intelligence will be missed dearly by the countless lives he touched, and the treasured mementos and memories he leaves behind will be cherished by many. In his retirement, Mr. Russell enjoyed golf, cards, and visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking, spending countless hours in his shop making birdhouses and furniture alike. Mr Russell was a perfectionist, who believed that if you were to do something, it should be done right and done well. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Russell, son Thomas Russell, and daughter Mary Katherine Russell. He is survived by loving family including three daughters,Cindy Bergau Brady (Kenneth) of Lakeland, FL, Virginia Russell of Dearborn Mi, and Gail Russell Denman of Dearborn MI, ,as well as a son, Eric Russell ( Kimberly ) of Highland, MI., and Son in law, Gerald Beauchamp of Jackson, Michigan. Mr. Russell also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on November 22, 2021 at Saint Maria Goretti Parish (St Sebastian) in Dearborn, MI. Internment will be at St Hedwig’s Cemetery at 11:30am.
