Anne Raulerson

Bartow - Anne Widerquist Eyman Raulerson, age 93, a longtime resident of Bartow, passed away at her home on September 19, 2018. Born July 30, 1925 in Fort Myers, Florida, She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Johnette (Odom) Widerquist. Mrs. Raulerson graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1942. In 1946, she received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Florida State College for Women (now FSU) with a concentration in movement and modern dance. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and served as Director of Alumni Association for FSU in 1957. She married Robert Lee Eyman upon his graduation from the US Military Academy at West Point, in 1946. Eyman was killed in a B - 29 crash in 1949. She moved to Bartow, Florida in 1954, when she married J.D. Raulerson, Jr. Mr. Raulerson passed away in December 2015, age 93. Mrs. Raulerson was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Bartow. She volunteered with many youth programs including Cub Scouts, 4-H, Polk County Youth fair, and was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Polk County Historical Society. Mrs. Raulerson was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Bartow Chapter, joining in 1965. She held many positions within the Chapter including Regent (84-86, 2001-09). She is survived by her family: Richard Eyman (Diana), John Eyman, Janet Wilson (Bill) and Joanne Thomas (Brian); four grandchildren: Lt. Colonel Robert Eyman (Sarah), Dr. Patrice Eyman Shanahan (Ryan), Matthew Wilson and Timothy Wilson, and four great grandchildren: Ryland and Katherine Eyman, and Emily and Elizabeth Shanahan. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6th from 10:00am to 10:30am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. A celebration of her life ceremony will follow at 10:30am at the funeral home chapel. Inurnment will follow the service at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
