Anne Stuart Pipping

Anne Stuart Pipping of Lakeland, FL, passed Wednesday, October 15, 2025. She was born March 10, 1932, in Bartow, FL, to Alice and J.K. Stuart. She was the second of six daughters. Anne was a graduate of Summerlin Institute in Bartow, and went on to study at Queens College in Charlotte, NC, where she majored in home economics and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Anne worked as a bookkeeper for her family’s cattle business before getting married and starting a family. Active in the community, Anne was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Finer Things Antique Club, the Lakeland Symphony Guild, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Junior League of Greater Lakeland, where she helped organize the Polk County Youth Museum which later became the Polk Museum of Art. Anne enjoyed gardening and was an early Polk County Master Gardener volunteer. She loved reading, cooking, needlepoint, collecting art, and studying the British monarchy, often reciting ascension dates of centuries of monarchs with complete accuracy. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Scotland, where she recently visited with her family to trace their Stuart family lineage. She loved her family abundantly, speaking with her older sister Dee almost daily. Known as Mums by her grandchildren, she visited with them as often as she could. She was fiercely proud of them all. Her memory and recall were impeccable, impressing people with her stories and knowledge of current events and historical references. Known for her intellect and wit, she always remained young at heart.

Anne was preceded in death by her sisters Ginger Davis and Caroline Stuart and her brother J.K. Stuart, Jr. She is survived by her children Alice Skipper of Lakeland and Linda (John) James of Bartow, grandchildren Stuart Skipper of Lakeland, William Skipper of St. Louis, and Elizabeth James of Bartow. She is also survived by her sisters Dee Davis of Tuscaloosa, AL, Linda Virgin of Safford, AL, and Kathie Stuart of Lake Wales, FL.
