Anne C. Newton, age 92, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021. She was born December 11, 1928 in Tuskegee, AL to James & Annie Cofield. She retired from the Polk County Clerk of Courts as Supervisor of Probate Department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow and later joined the United Community Church. Anne taught Sunday School for over 45 years and taught Martha Puckett's bible study class after her passing. She served on many different church teams and committees, vacation bible school, two pastor search committees, set up the prayer ministry of the church, led training sessions on various subjects and trained teachers on how to teach. She volunteered at the Bartow Hospital for many years, then volunteered in the office at Bartow First Baptist Church. She was part of the initial group that started the Women's Care Center in Bartow, where she served on the first board of directors and was actively involved with processing those in the need of ministry. She was also a member of the Junior Women's Club and the Bartow Garden Club. She is survived by daughter Elizabeth "Caron" Bennett & husband Earl of Lakeland, two sons Julian "Buster" Newton, III & wife Debbie of St Cloud and James "Jimmy" Newton & wife Tammy of Lakeland. Eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 pm Friday, July 16, 2021 at United Community Church, 2301 Noralyn Mine Road in Bartow. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm Friday, July 16, 2021, at United Community Church in Bartow with Dr. Ronald Burks officiating. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL.
