Bartow- Ann L. Weld-Frisbie, age 96, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at her home in Bartow. A lifelong native, Ann was born June 8, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Sterling and Cora (Martin) Lipscomb. Those who knew her best will remember her as a kind, thoughtful, generous woman who truly loved her Lord, her family, her friends and her students. She retired after 30 years of teaching at Bartow Elementary. Late in her career, she earned a Masters Degree in Exceptional Education from The University of South Florida so she could work with special needs students. She was a member of the Polk Education Association and the Retired Teachers of PEA. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild, attended and supported the Cursillo movement, and very much enjoyed participating in the ministry known as “The Crafty Ladies.” Mrs. Weld-Frisbie is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard E. Weld and her second husband Richard R. Frisbie. She is survived by a living family that includes her daughters: Diane Ashley and Patti Pike (Skip) of Bartow, Nancy McKirchy (John) of Boca Raton, along with six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31st at 11:00 am at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bartow Community Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 877, Bartow, FL 33831 for benefit of the Bartow Women's Care Center.
