Gainesville - Ann Conkling Stanfill, age 89, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021. She was born on September 28, 1931 in West Islip, NY to Frederic & Opal Conkling, the fourth of six children. The family moved to Miami, Florida where Ann graduated from Miami High School in 1949. Ann attended Florida State University where she met her husband, Herbert Mark Stanfill from Bartow. They wed in 1951 and began raising their four children (Mark Warren Stanfill, Daniel Conkling Stanfill, Ramona Dianne Stanfill (Harrison) and John David Stanfill). Ann was always unselfish and put her family first. After her youngest child was old enough to attend school, Ann returned to college to obtain her Bachelor’s degree from USF in teaching. She started her second career as a School Teacher in 1976. Ann’s career as an elementary school teacher began at Gibbons Street Elementary School in Bartow and she enjoyed teaching for two decades before retiring. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lions Club and the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Bartow. She was preceded in death by husband Herbert Stanfill and grandson Victor Stanfill. She is survived by her children Mark Stanfill of Lakeland, Dan Stanfill & wife Lori of Winter Park, Ramona Harrison & husband David of Gainesville and John Stanfill & wife Nancy of Morristown, New Jersey. Grandchildren, Kaitlynn Stanfill, Christian Stanfill, Rachel Stanfill, Michael Harrison & wife Rosie, Anna Rose Harrison, Hollie Manzanel & husband Angel and Julia Stanfill, great grandchildren, Ziana Harrison, Daiana Isabella Manzanel and Harrison Manzanel. Family will receive friends Friday, March 19, 2021 from 10 to 11 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Graveside service will be held 11:00 am Friday, March 19, 2021, at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL. A lunch/reception will follow the service at Byron Walker's house at 2100 Dynamite Road in Bartow, please RSVP Dan at dcstanfill@g-e-c.com if you plan on attending the luncheon.
