Alton J. Shiver

Alton J. Shiver 84 of Lake Wales died March 2, 2010 at the Groves Center in Lake Wales. A native of Miller County, GA. Alton was a lifelong resident of the area and a retired Equipment Mechanic for the Florida Department of Transportation with 30 plus years of service. He was also a Navy veteran and of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren Christopher Michael Shiver and Amanda Renee Shauger. Alton is survived by his wife Gladys Shiver of Lake Wales; one son Jimmy Shiver and wife Dianne of Pensacola; two daughters Brenda Shiver of Lake Wales; Karen Simpson of Newnan, GA; one brother James Oliver of Lake Wales; two grandchildren Cindy Bennett of Tifton, GA; Kenny Allbritton of Lake Wales; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 6-8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral in Bartow and services will follow on Friday at 2pm at the funeral home. Burial at Gandy Cemetery in Connersville.
