Allen W. Young

Allen W. Young, age 68, passed away from respiratory failure on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Tampa. Born on August 24, 1945 in Alturas, he was the son of the late William Henry and Flora Lee (Peacock) Young. Mr. Young was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his service, he owned and operated his own trucking company in Alturas for many years. Mr. Young was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Alturas and a current member of Main Street Baptist Church in Bartow. Allen is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Lou (Werner) Young, three sons: Dr. Christopher G. Young (Tammy), Samuel Scott Young (Denise), Douglas A. Young (Ruta) two daughters: Danielle Ferrell (Bobby), and Cecilia A. Slater (Eric). He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Corey, Victoria, Caira, Tyler, Zach, Gabriel, Ashley, Trinity, Samuel, Grayson, Ryder, Brentley, and five siblings: Evelyn Hielscher, Leland K. Young (Wanda), James V. Young (Martha), Flora Conley (George ), and Doniece Bennett. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 16th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home chapel.
