Allen Jerry Whitaker

Bartow - Allen J. Whitaker, age 77, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Bartow Regional Medical Center in Bartow. Born October 8, 1941 in Soperton, GA, he was a longtime resident of Bartow, moving from Soperton, GA. He was a heavy equipment operator in road construction for many years. Mr. Whitaker is preceded in death by his parents: A. D. & Lottie Stroud Whitaker and a sister: Annie Ruth Butler. He was survived by his wife: Donna Whitaker of Bartow; four sons: Kevin Whitaker of Lakeland, Dewayne Whitaker and Randy Whitaker both of Jacksonville and John Whitaker of Lake Wales; three daughters: Tammy Fields of Jacksonville, April Whitaker of Lake Wales and Alicia Henry of Lakeland.; three brothers: Kermit Whitaker and Arnold Whitaker both Bartow and Roger Whitaker of Lakeland; four sisters: Betty Haggins of Bartow, Theodocia Brill of Mountain Grove, MO, Katie Tucker, Hartville, MO and Judy Carroll of Mulberry, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will follow Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
