Alan Lynn Sizemore

April 28, 1948 — October 18, 2025

Alan Lynn Sizemore, lovingly known as “Popee” by his four grandchildren, passed away on October 18, 2025, at Winter Haven Hospital. He was 77 years old and a resident of Winter Haven, Florida.

Born April 28, 1948, in Holly Hill, Florida, he was the son of Byron K. Sizemore and Maria D. Sizemore. Alan graduated from Daytona Beach Mainland High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Florida State University. He continued his education at the Medical College of Virginia, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. After graduation, he moved to Winter Haven, where he practiced dentistry for his entire professional career.

A man of deep faith and service, Alan was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he served as President of the congregation, and later a member of Redeemer Winter Haven Church. He was active in the Rotary Club and the Elks Lodge, where he built many lasting friendships.

Alan was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Lake Region Yacht and Country Club, later renamed The Country Club of Winter Haven. He loved the outdoors—especially hunting and fishing—and made countless cherished memories catching redfish and trout with his children and grandchildren. A proud Florida State University alumnus, he held season tickets and faithfully made the trip to Tallahassee for more than a decade to cheer on his Seminoles.

Alan is survived by his wife of more than fifty years, Deborah F. Sizemore; two sons, B. Clay Sizemore (Marcy B. Sizemore) and Preston A. Sizemore (Marie R. Sizemore); and four grandchildren, Braxton C. Sizemore, Hudson G. Sizemore, Emma J. Sizemore, and Jacob A. Sizemore. He is also survived by his siblings Donna Lexow, Sandra Hulse, and Rev. Paul Sizemore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron K. Sizemore and Maria D. Sizemore.

A family graveside service will be held at Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof, Florida, on Friday, October 24, at 6:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Jonathan Winfree. A memorial service will follow at Redeemer Winter Haven Church on Saturday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Drew Bennett, with a reception to follow at Valhalla Club House.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redeemer Winter Haven Church or Grace Lutheran Church.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
