Velma Cannon Lanier, 84 a Native of Fort Meade, FL passed away srrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 9, 2012. Velma was born December 29, 1927 in Fort Meade. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Marvin Lanier, daughter; Rita Kay Lanier, two sisters; Walton Brewer & Doris Hendrick and four brothers; John, Matthew, Charles & Clois Cannon. She is survived by her daughters; Sandy DeVane & husband Kenny of Fort Meade, FL and Brenda Looker & husband Jim of Panama City, FL. Son; Dale Lanier & wife Cathy of Fort Meade. Sister; Rozene Proctor of Winter Haven. Grandchildren; Jason & Olivia DeVane, Derek & Brooke DeVane, Kyle & Stephie DeVane and Lynn & Junior Shiver all of Fort Meade. Fourteen Great Grandchildren, One Great Great Grandchild and many nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at First Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM on Thursday at First Baptist Church, 307 East Broadway in Fort Meade. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL.
