Vera Mae Pitts, age 81, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Tampa of respiratory failure. Born July 24, 1930 in Meigs, GA, Mrs. Pitts has been a resident of the Bartow area since 1965, moving from Georgia. Mrs. Pitts was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin Pitts. She is survived by two sons: Roy Edwards & James Edwards of Bartow; four daughters: Sue Smallwood of Arkansas; Linda Jarrard & Judy Howard, both of Bartow & Freda Smith of Lakeland; two brothers: Frank Griffin of Bartow & Bill Griffin of Georgia; two sisters: Frances Whitfield & Louise Flatt both of Bartow; 11grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Monday, July 9, 2012 from 10 - 11 AM at Word of Life Christian Center,1555 W. Main St, Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the Church.
